Flares and football don't mix!
6th October 2014
As many supporters will be aware, an incident occurred prior to Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge when a flare was released in the concourse of the upper tier away section.
AISA strongly condemns the actions of those responsible. Flares cause a considerable health and safety risk and have no place in football. They do not improve the atmosphere. Yesterday’s events served to confirm that. The pre-match atmosphere that had built up amongst Arsenal supporters prior to kick off was completely diffused by the release of the flare and caused considerable distress to many present. Arsenal fans give fantastic support to the team and it is important to ensure that isolated events by a minority do not undermine the reputation of our supporters.
AISA asks any members who were in the upper tier concourse and who saw what happened to contact Lois Langton at firstname.lastname@example.org .
