Paul Vaessen: Stuck in a Moment

Paul Vaessen: Stuck in a Moment

A fabulous event at the Emirates Stadium on Friday, when AISA teamed up with GCR Books to organise an evening to mark Paul Vaessen’s death (13 years to the day) and to launch and publicise a moving and inspirational new book, Stuck in a Moment: The Ballad of Paul Vaessen.

Compere for the night was Tom Watt, who kicked off the event by asking author, Stewart Taylor about key passages in the book. Next up was a showing of the last 15 minutes of the second leg of the European Cup Winners Cup semi-final against Juventus - Paul’s most famous moment, scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute.

An entertaining Q+A followed with a 5-star panel of former Arsenal players, Paul Davis, Graham Rix, Brian Talbot and Steve Walford; together with ex- Arsenal reserve and youth team coach, Roger Thompson.

A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining evening, interspersed with serious moments as questions about depression, addiction and the mental health of young players came to the fore

Many thanks to everyone who took part; Tom Watt and the panel, author Stewart Taylor, Paul's mum Maureen and all the AISA members and other supporters present amongst the 100+ audience at the Emirates Stadium W Club.

More about the event here and here. And more about the book here

If you’re an AISA member you can purchase a signed copy of the book for £12 post free by sending a PayPal payment to aisa@aisa.org or alternatively a cheque payable to AISA at PO Box 65011, London N5 9AX.
